We can tune 99% of turbo and superchraged engines from 2000 onwards, we can tune normally aspirated engines, but are honest from the start, the gains might not be noticeable compared to forced induction engines.

BMW 330e remapping @Tuning Emporium, hybrid turbo engine

As with all manufacturers nowadays, hybrids are becoming more popular.

Still using a combustion engine, but with an electric motor situated on the gearbox.

We have tuned quite a number now, and really impressed by how quiet and effortless these 330e’s are to drive.

In standard guise, these produce 252bhp and 309lb ft.

After a full health check on the car, we proceeded to improve its performance.

Tuned figures should be 310bhp and 368lb ft.

Merceds Vito 111 remapping at Tuning Emporium @TE_TuningEmprm

We recently we asked to tune a Mercesdes Vito 111 van, for a local business, who were looking for more LB Ft and economy.

With a 2.1 turbo diesel engine, only producing 115bhp and 213lb ft, we know there’s room for improvement.

After a full health check as always, we proceeded to write a new map.

Gains of up to 180bhp and 295 lb ft.

Which transforms this van by quite a bit!

Land Rover Defender 2.2 Remapping by Tuning Emporium

Had the pleasure of working on this great low mileage Land Rover Defender 90 2.2

Although producing the same power as the old 2.4, there is still some potential to be had from this engine.

In standard guise it produces:

122bhp and 266lb ft.

After giving the engine and vehicle a full health check, we proceeded to create a new map to unleash some much needed torque.

When testing the vehicle after, 3rd gear was a real punchy gear, transforming the pick up and response, all useful when towing!

We also took the time to change to standard air filter to much better improved performance panel filter, this will also aid in the MPG department too.

Tuning Emporium have been tuning Ford Transits for over a deacde now,  models from 2001 right up to 2018 models we can tune, either through remapping the ECU or providing a tuning box.

This week has been mostly Ford derived engined vehicles that we have tuned, including a great 2017 2.0 TDCi 103bhp model.

These are really crying out for more power especially when laden with tools and kit.  After a full check over the vehicle went on the dyno and produced more or less smack on Ford figures.

Once we had extracted the original map, we set about increasing the engine power but still within tollorances.

The end result was 189bhp and 354lb ft over 103bhp and 265lb ft.

Plus 86bhp and 89lbft gain!!  100% sure you will notice the difference!

Mercedes A180cdi tuning, at Tuning Emporium

Here at Tuning Emporium, we are always offer honest advice on getting the most from your engine.

In this case, as the car was under warranty, and it would require removal of the ECU, we advised our customer, one of our tuning boxes would be suited to the job.

Despite being badged as 180cdi, its actually a 1.5dci Renault engine producing 109bhp and 191lb ft.

So gains were never going to be like those of its bigger brother 220cdi.

After setting up our tuning box, which is

  • reprgrammable
  • Easily removable for dealer visits

Gains are of 136bhp and 228lb ft, along with improved MPG of around 10%.

Peugeot 208 hdi, remapping at Tuning Emporium

French Hdi engines, always leave the factory quite underpowered, thankfully we can improve the standard figures to improve driveability of all HDi engines.

With 92bhp and 169lb ft, in standard tune, we increased this to 120bhp and 199lb ft.

our favourite French HDi engine  we have tuned to date, has to be this 407 2.2 170bhp engine, which is now running 250bhp, from its twin turbo set up, which has had no negative effect on mpg whatsoever.

Audi S3 8V, 296bhp Stage 1 remap, at Tuning Emporium

We had the pleasure of working on a cracking Audi S3 recently, sporting 296bhp and 280lb ft  in standard tune.

Although respectable, there is huge potential on these engines, in fact up to 450bhp.

After a full health check on the vehicle, we proceeded to create a beposke map for this S3 set up.

In sports mode the S3 really became alive, shifting up through the gears in no time at all.  (for stages 2 and more we can tune the gearbox settings too 🙂 )

Land Rover discovery Td5, remapping at Tuning Emporium

Had a great example of a 2002 Land Rover Discovery Td5 in for one of our tuning packages recently.

Which includes, a bespoke remap, egr delete and upgraded panel filter.

In standard gusie these vehicles, are not the quickest, but a little more power, wouldn’t go amiss.

After checking the vehicle over for any faults, we proceeded to blank the egr off which takes about 30 to 40 minutes, once the engine is cold.

But on this occasion some previous tech, thought it be a good idea, to use a plastic pipe for the coolant, rather than a propper hose.  After much “how can you leave this, or words to that affect”, we topped up the coolant, bled it and checked for leaks.

We then set about tuning the TD5 for our stage one remap, but as this is auto, the exhaust manifold studs will need to be changed at a later date.

Stock power is

136bhp and 221lb ft (slightly more for auto’s than manuals)

 

Tuned is 165bhp and 260lb ft.

This little tune up transforms the Land Rover Td5 engine, for the ultimate experience we recommend an exhaust system next, to unleash that 5 cylinder burble!

BMW 2 Series Grand Tourer, remapping at Tuning Emporium

A trade customer wanted a little more power from their 1.5 litre 3 cylinder turbo diesel, 2 series.

After a factory software update and full ecu check, we commenced to write a new map.

In standard tune, the car had to be worked to get the best, and we have to say a revyy little engine, though two turbo’s probably helped.

 

In standard guise it produces:

116bhp and 199lb ft, far too little for big car especially with 7 seats.

After our bespoke remap, we know we have 150bhp and 243lb ft going through the front wheels.

Car immediatley felt much more responseive lower down the rpm.

After a recent 350mile trip mpg has improved from 42mpg to 53mpg.  And thats actually worked out rather than going on the car computer!!
