Range Rover L322 TD6 Vogue, egr delete and filter upgrade

Another egr bites the dust, after a full check of the vehicle, the egr fault would not erase from the ECU, hinting that its stuck open.

At the sametime we took the opportunity to upgrade the air filter whilst performing and ECU remap.

 

As you can see from the picture, this EGR has seen much better days.

Another clue that this engine wasn’t performing great was the mpg, down from high twenties to mid teens.  One egr blanked for good.

Stock power on these engines is 177bhp and 295lb ft.

Increased to 205bhp and 350lb ft.

With better air flow and map, MPG should improve by 10 to 15% too.

VW Scirocco rempping at Tuning Emporium

Carrying on the Volkswagen reampping theme, we had this great example of this Scirocco in for a stage 1 remap.

This 2.0tdi engine has been tried and tested in the VAG range, and we have lost count of remaps we have completed on these engines.

With stock power of 140bhp and 236bhp, we knew there is room for improvement, given the results on the dyno.

However we took this opportunity to add a Ramair Air filter.  This is substantially thinner than standard and can add at least an extra 10bhp.

Tuned map after writing should produce 195bhp and 285lb ft.

We also took the opportuniny to blank the EGR valve off in the ECU, to prevent any future problems.

In such a light car the remap is quite noticeable 🙂

Please note this was for a stage 1 remap, there are 2 further stages available with correct supporting modifications, to take power up to 240bhp.   On vehicles fitted with DSG boxes, we can also tune these to improve response times, advisable for stage 2 and 3 only.

Range Rover L322 TDV8 SDD software update and remap

Range Rover L322 TDV8 came in for a bespoke remap to correct the badly written remap from another tuning firm.
Turbos although new were wound right up to their limits.

Involved software update with SDD to PCM and gearbox, then we can start fresh. Just like building a house ??

After lots of erasing, coding and checking we eventually got there,with a properly set up remap, within engine and drivetrain tollorances, whcih should see power increase from:

272bhp and 272lb ft

tuned to:

310bhp and 553lb ft.

Mpg should also improve due to imrpoved torque band.  Very often we see improvments by 4mpg.

 

Remember its not just the TDV8 we can tune, we can tune all engines of the L322, from the 3.0 TD6 BMW derived engine, through to the 4.4 TDV8 and the 5.0 supercharged V8, Offering supercharger pulley upgrades along with exhaust upgrades, works great with our remapping software.
